In an unfortunate incident, unidentified individuals vandalized the feeders placed in the Strovolos Grammiko Park, designated to provide sustenance for the area's stray cats. The act of vandalism was made public when a picture surfaced, showing the broken device with its lock rendered non-functional.
The feeders, an integral part of the animal welfare program initiated by the Strovolos Municipality, cater to the well-being of stray cats that seek shelter along the Pedieos River, particularly in the Grammikos vicinity. The initiative, aptly named "CatsCoinBar," allows animal lovers to contribute to the cause by simply depositing one euro in the designated devices. The funds collected help provide dry food for the stray cats, ensuring their welfare and nourishment.
The innovative feeders are designed to be environmentally friendly and self-sustaining, utilizing a photovoltaic system to power them. Furthermore, the devices are equipped with smart meters and water supply containers to maintain the well-being of the feline inhabitants. To ensure the safety and security of the initiative, the municipality has also implemented a comprehensive security system to prevent any future sabotage attempts.
The brainchild of the Creative Universe Organization, the initiative was personally presented to the Mayor of Strovolos, Andreas Papacharalambous. The Mayor readily embraced the idea, recognizing the significance of supporting the local stray cat population and fostering a compassionate community.
Authorities are investigating the recent act of vandalism, and efforts are underway to repair and reinforce the feeders to continue the successful initiative. The Strovolos Municipality remains committed to promoting the welfare of stray animals and encourages community participation to safeguard the well-being of their furry residents.
