Today's weather is influenced by a weak low-pressure system. In the western region, the day starts with patchy clouds, which may lead to occasional, light rain showers. However, the rest of the island will enjoy mainly sunny skies.
As the day progresses, particularly from noon onwards, expect intermittent cloud cover to increase, potentially leading to isolated showers. These are more likely in the mountainous areas and the eastern part of the island. Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest, gentle to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening along the coast in the afternoon to a brisk 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be somewhat choppy, but calmer in the east, shifting from calm to slightly choppy. Temperature highs will reach about 21°C inland and along the south and east coasts, 20°C on the west and north coasts, and a cooler 13°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, expect a mix of partly cloudy and clear skies, with isolated showers likely in the western and northern regions. A brief thunderstorm is not out of the question. In the higher elevations of the Troodos Mountains, sleet could fall. Winds will die down to light breezes at 3 Beaufort, while the sea stays relatively calm to slightly choppy, especially in the east. Overnight lows will drop to around 12°C across the inland and coastal areas, and down to 2°C in the higher mountains, where local frost may form.
Looking ahead to Friday, anticipate variable cloudiness with scattered showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms, beginning in the west and north before spreading across the island. Saturday will see a continuation of partly cloudy skies with occasional showers. Sunday brings a mix of medium and high clouds, with low clouds forming at times, possibly resulting in isolated showers in the mountainous regions. From Sunday, expect intermittent dust in the air.
Temperatures through to Sunday will remain fairly consistent, slightly above the seasonal average.
