Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, with isolated showers or thunderstorms initially expected, mainly in the west and the mountains. By late afternoon, rain and local thunderstorms are expected to develop in the west before spreading to the remaining areas.

Winds will initially be mainly southeasterly, light to moderate at force 3 to 4 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to southwesterly winds at force 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally reaching force 6. The sea will be slightly rough at first, becoming rougher later in the day.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 26°C inland and along the coast, and 16°C in the highest mountain areas.

This evening, cloudy conditions will persist, with rain and local thunderstorms expected across the island. Winds will remain mainly southwesterly, moderate to strong at force 4 to 5 Beaufort and temporarily very strong at force 6. The sea will be slightly rough to rough.

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued an orange warning for thunderstorms, with severe weather expected to affect the island from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

A low-pressure system is expected to begin affecting the area on Wednesday afternoon, bringing rain and local thunderstorms that will initially develop in the west and mountainous areas before gradually spreading across the rest of the island.

The orange warning is valid from 7pm on Wednesday, October 14, until 5am on Thursday, October 15. According to the Department of Meteorology, rainfall intensity could reach between 55 and 70 millimetres per hour during heavy thunderstorms. Strong, variable wind gusts and hail are also expected.

The public is advised to be prepared for severe thunderstorms, which could cause damage to property and trees, flash flooding and disruption to transport and outdoor activities. People should also take precautions against lightning.

Some thunderstorms may be particularly intense or prolonged, with hail and strong, variable wind gusts possible in affected areas.

On Thursday, the weather will initially remain mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Conditions are expected to gradually improve as the day progresses.

Friday will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible at times. On Saturday, partly cloudy skies are expected, with isolated showers possible, mainly in the mountains.

Temperatures are forecast to remain at similar levels throughout the coming days, staying below the seasonal average.
