A 17-year-old minor was arrested Sunday night in connection with an ongoing police investigation into a case involving conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, affray, causing a disturbance, breach of the peace, and malicious damage. The offenses were committed in Larnaca on Saturday, October 19. A second arrest warrant has been issued for another minor, a foreign national, who is currently wanted by police.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, when authorities received a tip about a fight between young individuals of Arab descent and other foreign nationals in the coastal area of Finikoudes in Larnaca.
By the time police patrols from the Larnaca Police Department arrived, those involved had already fled the scene.
Investigations revealed that about 10 young men of Arab descent engaged in an unprovoked altercation with five foreign nationals, likely tourists, who were dining at a nearby restaurant.
Through footage obtained from the restaurant’s surveillance system, evidence was gathered against a 17-year-old unaccompanied minor, leading to his arrest.
The minor was apprehended around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Finikoudes area and was taken to Larnaca's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he provided statements that are under investigation.
No injuries were reported from the fight, though damage was caused to chairs and tables at the nearby restaurant. The case is being investigated by Larnaca CID.
