In a courtroom saga unfolding in the Famagusta District, a 46-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in the illegal trafficking of migrants and money laundering.

According to the court's findings, the man, driven by profit motives, aided 109 migrants in unlawfully entering the Republic of Cyprus. The incident unfolded on October 28, 2023, when the migrants arrived at Cape Greco by boat.

Simultaneously, the man faced charges of money laundering, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

The court's decision, effective from November 3, 2023, when the defendant was taken into custody, underscores the severity of the charges and serves as a stern warning against such activities.
