A total of 600 inspections were conducted by the Paphos Municipal Health Service as part of preventive measures during the festive period, with only three establishments requiring observations, according to the Head of the Service, Christos Christou.
Christou expressed the Service's satisfaction with the findings, noting that no serious incidents necessitating action were identified. Minor issues were found, primarily involving small quantities of food with damaged packaging, packaging defects, or incorrect food labeling. These items were promptly withdrawn for correction, with additional labels added to ensure compliance with mandatory requirements.
Regarding the three establishments flagged during the inspections, Christou emphasized that this represented a very small percentage. Follow-up inspections confirmed that the recommended measures from the initial visits had been implemented by the operators.
Commenting on cleanliness, Christou noted that teams from the Paphos Health Department were actively engaged throughout the holiday period, cleaning squares and public spaces due to the increased foot traffic in both the city center and along the seafront.
He stressed that the Health Service maintains strict inspection protocols during the holidays and encouraged business owners to continue their diligent efforts to comply with the relevant legislation, which ultimately serves the public's interest.
