The body of a young man was spotted on a rough coastal terrain in the Akamas areas on Tuesday morning by volunteer divers who were on the lookout for a missing person.
Volunteer divers, who were assisting marine police efforts in search of a person reported missing in the area, spotted the body at around 11.30am on a rocky cliff in the Ammoudi coastal area of the Akamas Peninsula at the northwest extremity of Cyprus.
Paphos police got the scene and cordoned it off just after noon, before calling in state pathologist Nicholas Charalambous to examine the dead body, the identity of which will possibly be determined through DNA testing as it was found in bad shape.
It remains unclear whether the body belongs to the person reported missing.
