The cabinet greenlit two initiatives on Wednesday aimed at bolstering employment and training opportunities for 1,265 individuals who are currently unemployed.
The combined budget for these plans totals €11,694,000, with €7,824,000 allocated to one plan and €3,870,000 to the other.
Following the Cabinet session, Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panayiotou unveiled the approved measures, citing their alignment with the government's strategy to maximize domestic workforce potential and strive for comprehensive employment conditions. The proposals originated from the Labour Ministry.
Panayiotou outlined that the initiatives target the employment and training of 815 unemployed individuals under the age of 30, alongside offering job opportunities to 450 others through flexible arrangements, including teleworking facilitated by recently enacted legislation.
To ensure a seamless transition into the job market for welfare beneficiaries, Panayiotou underscored collaborative efforts with the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, with plans for a forthcoming meeting on the matter.
"The government is leveraging resources from the Recovery and Resilience Plan to address unemployment, benefitting an estimated 1,500 households," Panayiotou stated.
