Inflation in Cyprus dropped to 2.2% in August, down from 2.4% in July, matching the overall trend in the eurozone. Across the EU, inflation also fell to 2.4%, compared to 2.8% the previous month, according to Eurostat. A year ago, inflation rates were higher, with Cyprus at 3.1% and the eurozone at 5.2%.
For Cyprus, this decline means prices are rising more slowly, which could ease the cost of living for people and businesses. Lower energy prices have helped bring inflation down, but costs for food and services are still contributing to inflation across Europe.
Across the EU, the drop in inflation is a positive sign of stabilizing economies, but some countries, like Romania, are still seeing higher rates. The overall decrease shows progress, but inflation levels remain uneven between countries, reflecting the different economic conditions each nation is facing.
