DISY President demands clarity amidst chaos

Demetriou's letter to the President exposes fractured Cyprus negotiations

Today, Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, President of the Democratic Rally (DISY), penned a letter to the President of the Republic, focusing on the Cyprus issue ahead of the upcoming meetings in Cyprus with the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy.

In her correspondence, Mrs. Dimitriou underscored the party's foremost concern: to contribute to and support any effort aimed at resolving the prolonged deadlock.

She emphasized the necessity for thorough preparation and clarified the party's stance, advocating for the resumption of negotiations from the point they ceased at Crans Montana. This should be based on the Guterres Framework and within the agreed framework of the Bizonal Bicommunal Federation with political equality.

Regarding measures for Turkish Cypriots, Mrs. Dimitriou highlighted a positive initiative that could foster a conducive atmosphere between the two communities while conveying sincere intentions to the international community.

She also called for clarification on these measures to ensure transparency and offered specific suggestions for the most suitable preparation.
