Experts warn certain Google searches can lead to hacking

Common search terms like ''online viagra'' and ''Google Authenticator'' may expose users to malicious websites and malware.

Cybersecurity experts are urging caution when using Google search, revealing that some common search terms can expose users to serious risks, including hacking and malware infections.

One tactic, known as SEO poisoning, is being used by cybercriminals to manipulate Google search results and lure unsuspecting users to fake websites. These sites often appear legitimate, but they are designed to steal personal information, install malware, or even lock up users' data for ransom.

Experts have listed several terms to avoid searching for, including phrases like “customer service number,” “easy loans,” and “Google Authenticator,” which could lead to malicious sites controlled by scammers. These sites may impersonate legitimate businesses or services, such as tech support or loan agencies, to steal personal data or install harmful software.

One of the most concerning scams involves searches for financial help, like "easy loans" or “quick money-making schemes,” which target vulnerable individuals looking for financial relief. Hackers also exploit terms like “sports mental toughness questionnaire” or “online Viagra” to infect users with malware hidden in downloads or web links.

To protect against these attacks, experts recommend users avoid clicking on suspicious search results, especially those promoted as ads, and to always verify websites and customer service numbers through official sources.
