In a case of bones, spells, and mystery fitting for Halloween, Cyprus courts unravel accusations of witchcraft and dark dealings in the mountains of Kakopetria.

In a story straight out of a Halloween nightmare, a strange case with all the trappings of black magic, mysticism, and potions found its way to Cyprus' Supreme Court, fittingly coinciding with Halloween. The details sound like a Halloween tale but are grounded in a real-life criminal investigation involving allegations of witchcraft, tarot reading, and even an eerie stash of bones and strange artifacts.

The woman at the heart of the case recently petitioned the Supreme Court to invalidate a search warrant issued in September, arguing it was improperly obtained. However, the Court disagreed, noting that the warrant was supported by solid testimonial evidence, including witness accounts detailing her alleged activities involving magic and fortune-telling. As a Supreme Court official remarked, "the material placed before the lower court satisfied the conditions for issuing the search warrant," which was upheld.

The alleged activities add a creepy twist to the case. According to testimonies, the woman offered her occult services for a fee, advertising spells to make someone fall in love with her clients. In one chilling account, an informant said they sought the woman's help in casting a spell to entice a younger man. When payment was refused, threats reportedly followed from the accused woman's partner.

During a recent visit to her home, this same informant allegedly noticed a wooden shed behind her kitchen, which the woman used as an altar. Inside, they described seeing bones, statues, and other items hinting at her dark practices.

Police followed up on these claims, securing a search warrant and seizing various bizarre and foreboding items from her home and outbuildings on September 18. Their findings painted a scene that could easily have been lifted from a Halloween horror show:

- Fox bones in a metal tray with a mirrored base, surrounded by tarot cards and coins.
- A container with a snake's skull, skin, and a pine cone.
- Glass skulls adorned with snake designs, and bags of hair labeled with individuals' names.
- A ram’s skull with horns, alongside dragon-themed trinkets and figures.
- A full Halloween kit with a witch's hat, black cape, a skull mask, and a skull-emblazoned cup filled with money.
- Black and red candles, pentagram-patterned cloths, a metal spider, and even garlic and onions, adding a dash of classic vampire lore.

The scene painted by the seized items adds an air of mystery, fitting for Halloween but unsettlingly real. As the legal proceedings continue, the Supreme Court's denial of the petition ensures the investigation will press on—uncovering whether this tale of bones, spells, and dark enchantment is more than just Halloween fantasy.
