Four local males have been arrested on charges related with illegal explosives and malicious destruction of property in Paphos on Greek Orthodox Holy Saturday.
A 55-year-old Paphos woman filed a complaint with police on Saturday saying earlier that day, around 5:15pm, she was driving around town when an assailant threw a firecracker in the back seat of her vehicle. The firework exploded, causing damages to the car according to the complaint.
The woman was able to explain to police that at the time of the attack the unknown person was in another vehicle which was carrying firewood for a lambradjia bonfire later that evening.
But not long after, as the woman was giving a statement to police at the local station in Peyia, a car that was carrying lambradjia firewood passed right outside and passengers threw a number of firecrackers at the police station.
According to police, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Sunday and three males aged 35, 20, and 17 were detained on Monday in connection with the attack.
