The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for Monday, effective from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., as temperatures are forecast to reach up to 42 degrees Celsius inland and around 32 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.
The warning comes as seasonal low pressure and warm air masses impact the region.
Monday's weather is expected to be mostly clear, with occasional patchy clouds. Winds will primarily blow from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, increasing to 4 to 5 Beaufort along the coast in the afternoon. The sea will be slightly choppy, particularly on the east coast.
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, with sparse fog or mist and low clouds forming in the morning. Winds will shift to a light, variable 3 Beaufort, and the sea will become slightly choppy. Temperatures will fall to 27 degrees Celsius inland, 24 degrees Celsius on the west coast, around 26 degrees Celsius on the rest of the coast, and 22 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.
The forecast for Tuesday through Thursday indicates mostly clear skies with occasional patchy clouds. Temperatures on Tuesday will remain significantly above average, with a slight drop expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
