The recent fire that swept through the semi-mountainous region of Limassol is now contained, according to Andreas Kettis, spokesperson for the Fire Service. Kettis conveyed to CNA on Wednesday that while the situation is under control, firefighting units will remain on-site to address any potential flare-ups.
Reflecting on Tuesday night, Kettis described it as relatively calm. He noted, "There were a few isolated incidents with minor flare-ups, all of which were promptly handled by ground crews."
For the day ahead, Kettis mentioned that Israeli aircraft would conduct operations primarily for demarcation purposes. Additionally, if required, these aircraft will conduct water drops to ensure the area's stability.
Furthermore, an event took place around 13:00 at the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos. This ceremony served as an expression of gratitude to all contributors prior to the departure of the Israeli aircraft. These aircraft had been dispatched to Cyprus to assist in extinguishing the fire.
He concluded by informing that aircraft from various other countries are gradually departing, highlighting that the Greek aircraft already left on Tuesday.
