A local man has been arrested on suspicion of rape following a complaint filed with police by a female tourist earlier this week.
According to local media, a 47-year-old Greek Cypriot male was arrested on Wednesday on rape-related charges, following a complaint filed on Tuesday by a foreign tourist, described as a 31-year-old French woman.
The accuser reportedly told police the suspect approached her at a local pub in a tourist area in Paphos. After the two spent some time at the pub, the man took the woman to another place nearby where he proceeded to rape her according to the complaint.

Police did not issue a report on the alleged incident, while local media said the tourist, who came to Cyprus on holiday for a few days, accused the man of having sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
Paphos police questioned the suspect following his arrest while reports said he was expected to appear in court Thursday morning for his remand hearing.
The suspect reportedly has denied the rape allegations.
