A Russian woman was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Larnaca on Sunday in the late afternoon.
According to police, 39-year-old Maria Rimsha was attempting to cross the road when an oncoming car, driven by a 30-year-old Greek Cypriot male, struck the woman some time before 5:30pm. The incident took place on the Zygi-Mazotos road near the Agios Theodoros exit.
The woman, who was described as a Russian national and pregnant in her third trimester, was fatally wounded while her husband and her mother-in-law were injured in the incident.

Rimsha was rushed to the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced her dead on arrival.
A police report also confirmed the death of her unborn child.
Police said they were investigating the incident while no decision had been made regarding a possible arrest of the car driver. His female passenger, described as a 31-year-old woman, was not injured while the condition of Rimsha’s husband and his mother was not immediately known.
Media reports said the driver, who remained at the scene following the accident, said he didn’t have a chance to notice the pedestrians on time.
Rimsha was in the seventh month of her pregnancy according to police and she had come to Cyprus for a brief holiday. No official information from the hospital was given regarding the unborn child.
Larnaca Traffic police are investigating the case.
