Spotty rain returns to the scene

Rain and thunderstorms head our way

Newsroom

A weak low-pressure system is dominating the area, with a low-pressure center over the Italian peninsula moving eastward, set to impact us mainly from tomorrow afternoon onwards.

Today's weather will be predominantly cloudy with high clouds, occasionally developing local low clouds that might bring isolated, mostly light rain, especially in western and northern areas. Periodic occurrences of thin dust particles in the atmosphere are possible.

Winds will vary from southwest to west, inland from northwest, generally light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 4 Beaufort on the coastal areas.

The sea will be slightly rough in the south and east, turning to rough conditions in the west and north. Temperatures will reach around 21 degrees Celsius inland and along the coasts, dropping to approximately 10 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous regions.

Tonight, increased high-level clouds will persist, with intermittent local development of elevated low and middle clouds, expected to bring isolated showers, mainly in the western and northwestern parts of the island. Later, during the early morning hours, localized fog may form, particularly in eastern areas.

Winds will predominantly blow from southeast to southwest, occasionally variable, light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough in the south and east, turning rough in the west and north.

Temperatures will decrease to around 8 degrees Celsius inland, around 13 degrees Celsius on the western and northern coasts, 12 degrees Celsius on the rest of the coasts, and 5 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous areas.

On Tuesday, the weather will be partly cloudy with occasional local cloudiness, and scattered showers are expected, especially during the midday hours and beyond.

In the evening, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in the western and northern regions. Snow or sleet is possible on the higher peaks of Troodos.

Wednesday's weather will be mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, initially in the west and north, gradually spreading to other areas of the island.

The possibility of snow or sleet persists on the higher peaks of Troodos. Thursday will start mainly clear, but gradually increasing local clouds are expected to bring isolated rain.

Temperature-wise, Tuesday will remain similar, Wednesday will see a decline, and Thursday will experience a negligible change, hovering around seasonal averages for this time of the year. Stay tuned for updates as the weather pattern evolves.
