A 14-year-old high school student on a race bike was critically wounded following a serious road collision in Limassol.

According to police, the teenager was riding his motorcycle on Sunday evening in Pano Polemidia around 7:30pm, when he collided sideways with an oncoming vehicle driven by a 44-year-old male driver.

The teen was reportedly wearing his helmet while riding a dirt bike that is not allowed on the road

The teenager, who was ejected from his seat and landed on the asphalt, was rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital where doctors said he suffered multiple bone fractures of the extremities.

The circumstances of the accident were not immediately clear. Some local reports said the teen was wearing his protective helmet at the time of the collision while other media pointed out that the teen's race bike was an off-road dirt bike that is not allowed on regular roads.

The young biker was then transferred to a private clinic where he was expected to undergo surgery.

A breathalyzer test administered on both the car driver and the teenager showed zero alcohol in their system.
