Suspected COVID-19 carrier quarantined at Limassol hospital

The suspected carrier, a young Greek national, recently visited his family and may have come into contact with a confirmed case

The Health Ministry’s Epidemiological Surveillance Unit announced on Friday it was investigating a possible case of a coronavirus involving a soldier who was quarantined at the Limassol General Hospital after showing symptoms similar to a respiratory infection.

The suspected coronavirus carrier is a young Greek national, who recently visited his family and may have come into contact with a confirmed case.

Protocols have been activated and relevant services have been alerted.

Samples from the young soldier have been sent to the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics, the results of which will be announced at a later stage.
