Shocking images made the rounds of the Turkish media, with 54-year-old Eleni Bulunda committing suicide in the Beilıkcuzu area, a suburb of Istanbul, on Monday afternoon (15/01) by jumping from the roof of a shopping mall.

The woman died at the scene and the dramatic moments were recorded on camera. An ambulance and police forces rushed to the scene and confirmed the death of the 54-year-old woman.

It was not known what led the woman to take her own life.

It will be recalled that last Sunday, a 31-year-old Greek woman and a 52-year-old Norwegian man were found dead in an apartment by the owner, who was looking for them.

The 52-year-old man was dead, while the 31-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she is being treated.

Meanwhile, on 9 January, a woman of Greek origin, after crashing her car into the crash barriers of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge in Istanbul, exited her vehicle and fell into the void.

Medical teams and police forces were rushed to the scene and an investigation was launched. Her body was found that evening on Besiktas beach and sent for forensic examination.

According to Turkish media reports, the deceased had been the victim of threats because of a sexual relationship. Before committing suicide, she had left her dogs with a friend.
