The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared on Sunday that 400 tons of food reached the port of Ashdod through Larnaca to aid the people of Gaza.
In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry disclosed its collaboration with the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) to intensify humanitarian support for Gaza's populace and tackle the prevailing crisis.
"Today, 400 tons of food reached the Ashdod port via Larnaca, Cyprus, to be transported to Gaza urgently to provide essential aid for the locals," the announcement conveyed.
UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy, emphasized the nation's dedication to partnering with global allies to alleviate the dire humanitarian circumstances in Gaza.
"There is an urgent need - now more than ever - to deliver life-saving humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Through various means of transportation, the United Arab Emirates is steadfast in exploring every avenue to supply immediate humanitarian aid and sustenance to Gaza," Al Hashimy stated.
Sean Carroll, CEO and Chairman of Anera, expressed appreciation for collaborating with the UAE government to furnish crucial aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Carroll stressed the significance of this endeavor, aspiring for it to initiate numerous deliveries comprising thousands of tons of aid. He emphasized the pressing requirement for access to northern regions, where many face severe starvation risks. Additionally, he lauded Anera's substantial contributions, highlighting the distribution of over 24 million meals to Gaza since mid-October. Carroll underscored the criticality of this partnership, affirming its potential to benefit millions during this precarious period.
The UAE reiterated its commitment to supporting all humanitarian initiatives in cooperation with the global community to mitigate the crisis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended gratitude for the assistance provided by the Government of Cyprus and the Amalthea Initiative.
As per the statement, the United Arab Emirates has dispatched more than 31,000 tons of emergency provisions, encompassing food, aid, and medical supplies, via 250 flights, 38 airdrops, 1,160 trucks, and three ships.
