If you woke up feeling like the sky looks a bit "sepia-toned," you aren't imagining things. A weak high-pressure system is still technically in charge, but it’s invited some airborne dust to the party. It’s the kind of day where the air feels a little heavy, your car starts wearing a thin coat of beige, and your sinuses start raising a formal protest.
For the most part today, the sun is winning the battle this morning. However, after lunch, the clouds are planning a small gathering over the western coast and the Troodos peaks. Temperatures are looking comfortable at 20°C inland and a lovely 21°C on the coast, genuinely pleasant, provided you aren't downwind of a 5 Beaufort northeasterly gust trying to rearrange your patio umbrella. If you're heading up the mountains, it’s a crisp 9°C, so don't ditch the jumper just yet.
Tonight, the sky is putting on a layer of high-altitude pajamas with increased cloud cover. The winds aren't quite ready to sleep, staying brisk enough to keep the sea a bit choppy on most coasts.
As we look toward the weekend, the weather is getting a bit more indecisive:
Thursday & Friday: A weak low-pressure system is knocking on the door. Expect more clouds to drift in, and by the afternoon, some isolated showers might decide to water the garden for you, mostly around the southern slopes of Troodos. Temperatures will stay stubborn, hanging out just above the usual seasonal averages.
Saturday: The clouds are officially moving in for the weekend. Expect a grayer start to the day with local showers likely making an appearance. Saturday is also bringing a small dip in the thermometer. After a week of flirting with spring, the air is going to feel a little more honest about it still being March.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts and keep the antihistamines handy.
