Nicosia police make drug bust after placing woman’s hotel room under surveillance

A young woman was arrested at a hotel in Nicosia on drug related charges, after officers had placed her room under surveillance where they found illegal drugs and money.

According to police, a 20-year-old female resident of Nicosia was detained on Sunday evening by drug squad officers, who had placed her hotel room under surveillance after receiving a tip.

The suspect, described as a Greek Cypriot woman, arrived at a hotel in the capital where she had rented a room, with officers blocking her way as she entered the building in the early evening just before 8pm.

Following a person search, according to an official police report, officers found around 9 grams of cannabis, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, and €505 in cash.

Officer then searched her hotel room with a search warrant where they found and seized more drugs, some 132 grams of cannabis and 1 gram of methamphetamine, as well as €3400 in cash.

Police said the suspect was detained after being caught red-handed in connection with illegal possession of narcotics.
