Merry Christmas Eve! The countdown is officially over, and while we aren't getting a "white Christmas," we are getting a very comfortable one. A weak low-pressure system is currently hanging around the area, acting like that one relative who shows up early and hovers near the buffet, but thankfully, it’s not bringing any major drama to ruin the festivities.
Today is looking like a bit of a mixed bag, gift-wrapped in mild temperatures. The weather will be partly cloudy, and from midday onwards, you might encounter isolated showers. Think of it as nature giving the rooftops a quick rinse before the reindeer land. The winds are behaving perfectly for holiday travel, blowing gently from the northeast to southeast at a calm 3 to 4 Beaufort. The best gift of all? The temperature. We are looking at a delightful 19°C inland and 21°C on the coast. Even the mountains are a manageable 10°C, so you won’t freeze while waiting for Santa.
Tonight, the most important forecast of the year: Santa’s flight path looks generally clear. It will be partly cloudy with just a possibility of isolated showers, mainly near the coast. The winds will drop to a whisper-light 3 Beaufort, ensuring a smooth ride for the sleigh.
As for Christmas Day (Thursday) tomorrow, the weather is planning a two-part performance. The morning starts off partly cloudy and pleasant, perfect for opening presents. However, after eating way too much turkey at midday, the weather turns a bit grumpy, with local showers and even an isolated thunderstorm possible in the afternoon.
Friday and Saturday will follow the same routine: partly cloudy with showers or thunderstorms popping up mainly after lunch. But with temperatures staying slightly above average throughout the holidays, we really can't complain!
