146 individuals repatriated as police crack down on illegal residency

Coordinated operations target undocumented migrants across all districts

Newsroom

The Cyprus Police have ramped up efforts to tackle illegal residency on the island, arresting 80 individuals last week as part of coordinated operations across all districts.

According to a police announcement, the Aliens and Immigration Service worked with other departments to conduct these operations. A total of 146 foreign nationals who were residing illegally in Cyprus were repatriated to their home countries during the same week.

Among those repatriated, five individuals were sent back on a joint deportation flight organized by Belgian authorities under the coordination of the European border agency FRONTEX. This marks the 14th time Cyprus has participated in such FRONTEX operations this year.

Authorities revealed that since the start of 2024, over 8,600 people have been deported or repatriated from the Republic of Cyprus as part of ongoing efforts to address irregular migration.
