The Cabinet approved a grant scheme on Wednesday aimed at installing solar water heating systems in homes, according to Energy, Commerce, and Industry Minister Giorgos Papanastasiou.
The plan includes two categories, Papanastasiou said following the Cabinet session. In the general category, the grant will amount to €500, while homes in mountainous areas will receive €900. The second category targets vulnerable households, offering a €900 subsidy.
“The proposed grant plan covers complete systems, including the cylinder and solar panels. There will be a list of participating installers eligible to install such systems after applicants submit their requests,” the minister stated.
The scheme's budget stands at €1 million, and the submission process will remain open until December 20, 2024, or until 1,500 applications are received.
Papanastasiou added that funding will come from the Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency Fund, and the plan is available to individuals only.
