An inter-ministerial committee chaired by President Nicos Anastasiades that convened on Monday to evaluate the coronavirus protection measures currently in place decided to allow final decisions to be taken by Cabinet in its meeting on Wednesday.
A written announcement by Deputy Government Spokesman, Panayiotis Sentonas, said that during the session, which was also attended by four members of the epidemiological and scientific team of Health Ministry, further measures to tackle the unfolding crisis were discussed after the current state of things were mapped out.
He noted that decisions on concrete issues discussed on Monday are expected to be taken by the Cabinet, which convenes on Wednesday, April 8.
According to Kathimerini Cyprus, citing well-informed sources, the inter-ministerial meeting had ruled against any escalation of measures, but seemed adamant about extending measures currently in place until the end of April.
