Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides met with Argentine President Alberto Fernández during the second day of the EU-CELAC Summit in Brussels on Tuesday. The meeting focused on two key topics: the forthcoming opening of a Cypriot embassy in Buenos Aires and the celebration of Argentina's 60th anniversary of participation in UNFICYP.

According to a statement from the presidency, the meeting took place in a positive atmosphere, with an emphasis on enhancing cooperation between the two countries at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

President Christodoulides highlighted the upcoming opening of the Republic of Cyprus Embassy in Buenos Aires in September, aiming to strengthen diplomatic ties that have existed between the two nations since 1968.

Additionally, in honor of the 60th anniversary of UNFICYP's establishment in 2024, the President expressed Cyprus's deep appreciation for Argentina's longstanding and significant contributions to the UN Peacekeeping Force.
