Newsroom

A yellow warning for extreme maximum temperatures will be in effect today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the Department of Meteorology.

The warning indicates that temperatures are expected to soar to 42 degrees Celsius in the interior regions and around 32 degrees Celsius in the higher highlands.

A seasonal low-pressure system is currently influencing the area.

Today's weather will be mostly clear, though some regions may experience increased cloud cover in the afternoon. Winds will predominantly blow from the southwest to northwest, ranging from weak to moderate at 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, and locally strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly turbulent. Temperatures will reach 42 degrees Celsius in the interior, 33 degrees in the west, around 36 degrees on the other coasts, and 32 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear. Winds will continue from the southwest to northwest, weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will gradually calm. Temperatures will drop to 24 degrees in the interior and west coasts, around 25 degrees on the other coasts, and 21 degrees in the higher mountains.

From Friday through Sunday, the weather will stay mostly clear, though increased cloud cover in the afternoon could bring isolated showers in the mountainous areas. Temperatures will rise slightly on Friday, remaining above average for this time of year, with no significant changes expected over the weekend.
