Dr. Silas Michaelides, who leads the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence at the Cyprus University of Technology, has been named one of the world’s top scientists in the field of Artificial Neural Networks, placing in the top 0.5% globally. This honor comes from the ScholarGPS platform, which tracks and ranks scientists’ research around the world.
According to a press release from the ERATOSTHENES Centre, Dr. Michaelides focuses on Engineering and Computer Science, especially in Artificial Neural Networks. He also studies Earth Observation, Meteorology, meteorological radar, geospatial data analysis, and finding new ways to address environmental and climate challenges.
“The combination of satellite data, remote sensing, and innovative analysis is essential for monitoring natural events and promoting sustainable development,” the press release said. The ScholarGPS platform evaluates over 30 million scholars from more than 55,000 institutions in over 200 countries.
