Elon Musk's late SpaceX meeting sparks concerns over drug use

The late meeting raises eyebrows and questions

Newsroom

Elon Musk's usually dynamic SpaceX meetings took a bizarre turn recently, as the CEO arrived fashionably late, only to deliver a rambling and incoherent speech that left executives privately questioning his state of mind, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The report detailed Musk's unconventional behavior, describing the meeting as "nonsensical," "unhinged," and "cringeworthy." SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell had to step in to salvage the situation, taking over from the SpaceX maverick.

The concern doesn't stop there. The report delves into Musk's alleged drug use, including LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and ketamine. The potential impact on SpaceX, a major player in the space industry with government contracts, could jeopardize billions in assets, thousands of jobs, and the entire US space program.

Despite the serious nature of these claims, representatives for Musk have not yet responded to the report. Musk's attorney, Alex Spiro, dismissed the description of the meeting as "false," but with reports of Musk's drug use circulating, the situation becomes increasingly precarious.

This isn't the first time Musk's behavior has raised eyebrows. Past incidents, including smoking marijuana on a Joe Rogan podcast, led NASA to demand written promises of adherence to federal drug guidelines at SpaceX and a $5 million investment in employee training.

The repercussions extend beyond SpaceX, causing concerns among executives in Musk's other ventures, including Tesla. Former director Linda Johnson Rice reportedly opted out of seeking reelection due to worries about Musk's drug use.

As the scrutiny continues, some Tesla board members even speculate whether Musk's infamous 2018 tweet about taking the company private was influenced by substance use, leading to significant penalties and Musk temporarily stepping down as Tesla's chairman.

In a rapidly evolving narrative, Elon Musk's actions and the potential fallout from his alleged drug use create a precarious situation for his companies and the broader space industry.
