Ever wonder how happy people are in Cyprus? Well, they recently gave their overall life satisfaction a score of 7.2 out of 10, according to Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union. That's pretty close to the EU average, which stands at 7.1.
In the EU, folks in Austria are leading the joy parade with a rating of 7.9, closely followed by Finland, Poland, and Romania at 7.7. On the flip side, Bulgaria, Germany, and Greece are trailing a bit with lower scores.
Good news for Cyprus – compared to 2021, their rating bumped up by 0.4 points. And if we look back, in 2013, it was at 6.2, while in 2018, it hit 7.1.
Now, here's an interesting tidbit: life satisfaction tends to dip as you get older. In Cyprus, the younger crowd (ages 16-19) is rocking a 7.6, but as the years roll on, the numbers gradually ease down to 6.6 for those 75 and above.
In the EU, it's a similar story – happiness starts strong for the younger groups, peaking at 7.7, but as you hit 75 and above, it settles at 6.7. Life satisfaction is a complex thing, influenced by factors like age, education, family, and finances. It's like a personal happiness recipe, with everyone adding their unique ingredients!
