Free flu shots offered for GeSY beneficiaries

Government prioritizes vulnerable groups and provides access to flu and COVID-19 vaccines across Cyprus.

Newsroom

The Ministry of Health is offering free flu vaccines for GeSY beneficiaries, focusing on protecting vulnerable groups. Two vaccines will be used: Influvac for people over six months and Efluelda for those over 60. COVID-19 vaccines will also be available, with flu shots given through personal doctors and COVID-19 vaccines provided at immunization centers on a walk-in basis.

The campaign prioritizes high-risk groups, including older adults, pregnant women, people with chronic conditions, and healthcare workers, aiming to reduce complications from influenza and COVID-19. Identification is required for vaccination.

For COVID-19, vaccinations are allowed four months after the last dose, with a three-month waiting period required after a positive COVID-19 test. Severely immunosuppressed individuals can get extra doses based on a doctor's recommendation.

The Ministry advises other groups, such as residents and staff of institutions, soldiers, and healthcare workers, to get vaccinated to enhance public health protection.
