From sunshine to raindrops, get ready for changing skies!

The weather report from the Cyprus Met Service

Newsroom / CNA

A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region. In the atmosphere, intermittent thin dust particles will remain suspended until Sunday, with concentrations expected to increase temporarily from Friday onwards.

Initially today, the weather will be mostly sunny, with scattered clouds observed in some areas, particularly in the northern and western coastal regions. However, localized increased cloudiness will develop progressively, leading to isolated showers and brief thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous and inland areas. Winds will be, initially, variable and light, around 3 on the Beaufort scale, gradually becoming southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, reaching 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale. Along the coastal areas, winds will occasionally become moderate, around 4 on the Beaufort scale. The sea will generally be slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 28 degrees Celsius in the inland regions, around 27 degrees Celsius in the southeast and east coasts, around 25 degrees Celsius in other coastal areas, and around 19 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous areas.

In the evening, the weather will remain mostly clear, although localized increased cloudiness may occur in coastal areas. Later, especially during the early morning hours, there is a possibility of patchy fog or low-level cloud formation in some areas. Winds will blow from the northwest to northeast, and in the northern coastal regions, they will be initially light to moderate, around 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, gradually becoming light, around 3 on the Beaufort scale. The sea will be relatively calm. Temperatures will drop to around 16 degrees Celsius in the inland regions, around 17 degrees Celsius along the coast, and around 9 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous areas.

On Friday, the weather will be initially mostly sunny, with localized increased cloudiness developing during the afternoon and beyond, potentially bringing isolated showers. Brief thunderstorms are also possible in mountainous areas. From the afternoon onwards, the weather will become partly cloudy due to medium and high-level cloud formations.

On Saturday, localized increased cloudiness will develop during the afternoon and beyond, resulting in isolated showers and possible brief thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains. Sunday is expected to see scattered showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and beyond.

Temperatures will gradually rise until Sunday, reaching near-average values for this time of the year.
