Health Ministry announces one death, 231 cases

The new cases emerged after 26,603 tests were conducted, and raised total cases detected so far to 33,710

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced one coronavirus fatality and 143 new cases, raising the death toll to 231 and total cases detected so far to 33,710.

The fatality involved an 86-year-old woman who suffered from underlying health conditions.

The new cases emerged after 26,603 tests were conducted. Among new cases, 74 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 49 were contacts, two were secondary contacts, 12 were people who took the initiative to get tested, four were tested at a general hospital, while two tested positive to a rapid antigen test at a private lab.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 81 coronavirus patients, 25 of which are in critical condition.

22 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, three of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 23 patients, 16 of which are in the ICU. 36 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where five are in the ICU.
