Highs reach 44 degrees in Cyprus

Heatwave and dust expected to linger until Friday

Today, the weather will be mostly clear and very warm. Winds will initially blow from the southeast to southwest and locally variable, weak at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, and temporarily moderate along the windward coast at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will generally be calm to slightly turbulent. Temperatures will reach around 44 degrees in the interior, approximately 38 degrees on the south and east coasts, around 34 degrees on the west and north coasts, and in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear and warm. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, weak to locally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly turbulent. Temperatures will drop to around 25 degrees in the interior, approximately 24 degrees on the coast, and 22 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Friday, the weather will remain mostly clear and warm.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be occasional locally increased cloud cover, which during the midday hours and afterwards may produce isolated showers, mainly in the mountains and possibly in some inland areas. On Sunday, there is a chance of an isolated short storm in these areas.

The temperature on Friday is not expected to change significantly, remaining well above seasonal averages. However, by Sunday, temperatures will drop significantly but will still be slightly above the average climatic values for this time of year.
