In a recent incident, members of the bicycle police intercepted a makeshift pipe bomb during a routine vehicle check on a 40-year-old driver. The impromptu stop occurred when officers discovered a 31-year-old wanted individual as the passenger.
According to the Limassol Traffic Enforcement Unit, around 9 AM, bicycle police officers stopped a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old on Independence Street. The driver matched the description of a wanted person involved in burglary and theft.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a complete and an empty cartridge of a hunting rifle, along with a plastic container containing a quantity of gunpowder. During a physical search, the driver was found in possession of a homemade bomb, resembling a pipe bomb.
The 40-year-old was arrested on the spot for immediate offenses, while the 31-year-old was apprehended based on an outstanding arrest warrant.
