A heat advisory has been issued for Thursday afternoon due to extreme high temperatures in the interior, while milder temperatures are expected along the coast through the weekend.
Weather officials have issued a yellow warning for Thursday afternoon, effective from 1pm until 4:30pm, citing “extreme high temperature” expected to rise to around 40° degrees Celsius inland.
A low pressure system and a relatively warm front are affecting the area, with mostly clear skies on Thursday expected to last through the weekend.
Maximum highs are expected to reach 40° degrees Celsius inland, 35 in the south and eastern parts of the island, 33 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 31 up in the mountains.
Evening weather is expected to remain mostly clear with minimum lows registering up to 23 in the interior and along the coast while it will be 18 in the mountains.
