Police arrest local man for firing a warning shot in a club following verbal confrontation

A local male was placed under arrest on Sunday night after he allegedly fired his hunting rifle inside a night club in Limassol.

According to police, a 33-year-old man from Limassol was arrested in connection with a shooting inside a night club, where he allegedly fired one shot to the ceiling and threatened guests.

The incident took place on Friday morning around 5am, with police saying the suspect carried a hunting rifle inside the club and threatened a number of guests with whom he had a verbal confrontation previously.

Police said an arrest warrant had been issued for the suspect’s arrest, with charges including unlawful possession of a rifle and explosives, illegally carrying a firearm, using threat of force, and malicious damage.

No injuries were reported.
