On Thursday night (4/5), citizens in various areas of Cyprus observed mysterious lights appearing in the sky, causing disruption and raising questions. While conspiracy theories quickly circulated, it was later revealed that the event was related to Elon Musk's SpaceX and specifically their "Starlink Satellites Project". To learn more, you can watch videos that were published on the page "Weather Lovers of Cyprus".
The Starlink project aims to place thousands of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), 550 kilometers above us. These satellites will transmit internet signals to ground receivers, which will then transmit locally or directly to the Starlink router. As of November 2020, there were already 955 Starlink satellites in orbit, with SpaceX aiming to develop at least 12,000 and potentially up to 30,000 or even 42,000 to ensure global internet coverage via Starlink.
The project is the brainchild of Mr. Elon Musk, one of the most powerful individuals in the world, and has been observed in several countries including Greece, Lebanon, Turkey, the United States, and Israel.
