The Cabinet on Wednesday gave a green light for the government to fund an additional 10,000 coronavirus tests that will target employees of additional businesses that are gradually resuming operation as the island steadily lifts restrictions.
The new round of tests will target employees of businesses that resumed operation on June 1 in the framework of the second phase of the lockdown exit strategy, as well as employees that will be returning to work when phase tree kicks off on June 9.
The approved program, submitted by Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou, will target a sample of employees across Cyprus who come into contact with the public.
Details on the process, the employees who will be tested, the timeframe, and the labs that will conduct the tests will be announced in the coming days.
