A Paphos District Court on Wednesday handed a suspended four-month prison sentence to two British passengers, aged 50 and 44, for smoking and consuming alcohol on a flight.

According to Deputy Police Director of Operations in Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, the incident took place on the morning of August 26 during a flight from Manchester to Paphos. Crew members reported the passengers, a man and a woman, to the authorities for smoking an electronic cigarette in the cabin, despite repeated warnings to stop.

The passengers were also accused of drinking alcoholic beverages they had brought on board in their luggage, causing a disturbance, and at one point, verbally abusing crew members when asked to cease their behavior.

The two individuals were arrested and appeared before the Paphos District Court on Wednesday, where they pleaded guilty to the offenses. The court imposed a four-month suspended prison sentence.
