Family, unaccompanied minor transferred to Pournara after crossing Green Line

A family of four and an unaccompanied minor, all of Somali origin, were found in the early hours of Friday after reportedly crossing into the Republic of Cyprus from non-government-controlled areas. They have since been transferred to the Pournara migrant reception center for further investigation, authorities said.

According to police, members of the Athienou Police Station and the Green Line Sub-Directorate located the group shortly after midnight following a tip-off. The five individuals were initially taken to the Athienou police station.

Authorities identified the group as a man, a woman, two minor girls, and an unaccompanied minor. The individuals told police they crossed into Cyprus on October 10 at 11 p.m. from an unknown location, providing no further details.

The case is under investigation by the Athienou Police Station.
