Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is reportedly seeking loans from his wealthy and powerful friends in Hollywood, Wall Street and the tech industry in order to be able to pay his staff, as his US and UK accounts have been frozen.
According to Page Six, the Russian businessman is asking his friends in the US to lend him $1 million each, as his staff salaries alone are said to amount to $ 750,000 a week. As he tells his acquaintances, he has never delayed the salaries of the people who work for him, but with his accounts blocked, he can not make the payments.
Although Abramovich has occasionally hosted many famous and powerful people on his boats and at his huge St. Barth's summer cottage, many are reluctant to lend him money, given that he is under sanctions despite his role in the negotiations on Ukraine.
Among the many people, he is said to have approached Hollywood producer and director Brett Ratner and the Rothschild family. They are all good friends, but no one agreed to lend him money, either because they do not have that much cash or because they do not want to get in trouble with the law.
It is noted that the 55-year-old Abramovich has a fortune of 14.3 billion dollars. He owns at least four boats worth a total of $ 1.4 billion and a $700 million property on St. Barth's most beautiful beach, Gouverneur Beach.
