In a shocking turn of events, a high school in Limassol District became the scene of a tumultuous clash involving multiple generations of a family. The incident unfolded yesterday, leaving authorities to grapple with the aftermath.
Police Representative Christos Andreou shed light on the incident during an appearance on the morning show Alpha Kalimera. According to Andreou, the authorities were alerted following a complaint from the school's Directorate concerning a student.
Allegedly, the student initially reached out to her mother, prompting a visit to the school. Subsequently, the mother contacted her 70-year-old father, who also headed to the educational institution. The situation escalated when the 70-year-old encountered resistance from the school principal at the entrance, leading to a physical altercation.
Andreou explained that the elderly man, despite being told he couldn't enter, forcefully gained access and pushed the school principal. A timely intervention by a member of the Z group of the Police prevented further chaos as the incident unfolded near the school entrance. At the same time, another vehicle arrived carrying the 20-year-old brother of the student.
The 20-year-old, described as exhibiting wild behavior, attempted to enter the school premises. Despite the police officer's efforts to de-escalate the situation, the young man became uncontrollable and physically pushed the officer. Consequently, he was promptly arrested on the spot.
Meanwhile, the 70-year-old, having pushed the school principal and resisted police intervention, found himself in handcuffs as well. Both individuals were confined and transported to the police station, where they are currently facing legal consequences.
The Limassol District Court is expected to register a case against the two arrested individuals. The authorities are also investigating the initial incident involving the student that triggered this chaotic and violent sequence of events. The community is left in shock as the repercussions of this family dispute reverberate within the educational institution.
