Six new coronavirus cases emerged on Wednesday after 2,928 sample were checked for the virus, a Health Ministry announcement said.
Two of the new cases emerged from the program of 20,000 tests targeting schools, and involved a middle school student and a member of the local school authorities.
An additional two cases emerged from the round of tests at Microbiology Labs of the island’s General Hospitals, and involved a nurse and a patient at the Nicosia General Hospital.
The fifth new case involved a person who took the initiative to get tested, while the sixth case involved a patient who was tested prior to being admitted into hospital for treatment.
The new cases brought total known cases in the Republic of Cyprus to 958.
