Six more people in the Republic of Cyprus tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday after a bulk of 1,774 tests were conducted, bringing total confirmed cases to 889.
The new cases involve three contacts of other known cases, one person who took the initiative to get tested, and two members of special health groups.
Speaking at the daily coronavirus briefing, Scientific Director of the Nicosia division of the State Health Services Organization, Dr Marios Loizou, said that according to information valid until 3pm on Thursday there were nine patients being treated for the virus at Famagusta Hospital, one of them in the ICU, while four patients were discharged.
Additionally, there were five intubated patients in ICUs, four at Nicosia Hospital and one at Limassol Hospital, whose condition is considered critical but stable.
Five more coronavirus cases were being treated in hospital wards other than Famagusta Hospital.
