Sunny days, hot nights

Be prepared for fluctuating temperatures

Newsroom

The Meteorological Department has recently issued a new yellow warning for extremely high temperatures. According to their announcement, the warning will be in effect from 11:00 AM on Thursday (27/07) until 5:00 PM on the same day.

During this period, temperatures are expected to soar to a scorching 41 degrees Celsius in some inland areas, while the higher mountainous regions will experience around 33 degrees Celsius.

The weather forecast for the upcoming days indicates the influence of seasonal low pressure and warm air mass over the region.

Today's weather will be sunny and hot. The winds will mostly blow from the southwest to northwest, starting weak at around 3 on the Beaufort scale and gradually becoming moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the afternoon, some southern coastal areas might experience strong winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to moderately wavy. Temperatures are expected to reach approximately 41 degrees Celsius in inland regions, about 39 degrees Celsius in the northern coastal areas, around 37 degrees Celsius in the southern and eastern coastal areas, and about 33 degrees Celsius in the western coastal areas and higher mountainous regions.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear. However, later in the evening, some western and southeastern coastal areas might experience temporary increased low clouds. The winds will initially be light from the southwest to northwest, about 3 on the Beaufort scale, and locally become moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Later, the winds will shift and become weak, up to 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly wavy. Temperatures will drop to around 25 degrees Celsius in inland regions, as well as in the southern and eastern coastal areas. Other coastal areas will experience around 24 degrees Celsius, while the higher mountainous regions will see temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, Friday's weather will be mainly sunny, with the possibility of some scattered dust in the atmosphere. Over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, the weather will continue to be mostly sunny, although on Sunday during midday, increased cloudiness might be observed, especially in the mountainous areas. As the weekend progresses, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease, reaching levels close to the average climatological values.

With this heatwave warning in place, everyone needs to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool during these extreme temperatures. Remember to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and find shelter in air-conditioned places when possible. Keep an eye out for any further updates from the Meteorological Department to stay informed about the weather conditions. Stay safe and take care!
