According to Sigmalive, a number of state educators received an urgent email message from the education ministry, asking them to rip a specific page out of the Oxford Discover Futures 3 Workbook before handing them to high school juniors.

The page in question is said to contain references to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first president of the newly formed Turkish Republic one century ago, in an exercise called “Turkey’s greatest hero.”

Teachers Union OELMEK has received complaints regarding the incident, while educators took to social media to confirm what had happened.

A meeting at the education ministry has been scheduled to discuss the incident.
